Taipei Solo Trip – Day 6 (16 Nov 2017)

Well, I was finally down to my final day in Taipei. And true to my deplorable nature, I did not make any effort to wake up early.

My itinerary nearer to afternoon brought me firstly to Ling Dong Fang (gush mode on) – a famed beef noodle stall which was highly recommended by another Taiwanese; which we missed during our February trip due to the weekend and PH we had encountered.

I refuse to divulge the address here. This is THE best Taiwanese beef noodles I have every partaken. I don’t want it to get too crowded (although nothing’s stopping you from googling it..)

Well, the beef noodles there did not live up to my expectations. Instead, it took my expectations, stripped off its pants, and beat the crap out of it. This had to be the best Taiwanese beef noodles I had ever tasted. The stall was really packed even at 2pm. And I had to queue slightly. They had a table serving small delicacies, and the actual bowl of beef noodles was overwhelmingly delicious and wholesome. Little wonder, given the way the prepared the broth and the meat. It was a stall which I would definitely recommend everyone and come back to every time I return to Taipei.

The main dish (beef noodles) – just look at the soup and the meat swimming within. Coupled with a side dish of cow’s ears and spiced bean curd. This fare is so sumptuous and tasty – I have no more words

Damned. Good. Beef. Noodles!

The place where they cook the broth. They don’t make beef soup like this back home anymore. Sigh

After the noodles, I had a short walk through the streets exploring the shops and the small streets littering the immediate vicinity, until I reached a MRT station.

Eventually, as the sun aged to a golden-brown hue nearer to the end of the day, I found myself strolling back towards 23 Public Bar.

Officially my fav beer joint in Taipei

During my first visit a few days ago, I chanced upon a Happy Hour signage depicting the time of the day and could not help myself. Back at 23 public Bar, I simply parked my butt on a seat, watched people and simply watched the shadows lengthen towards evening, while enjoying great craft IPA beer and stout. Few things would be able to beat this kind of afternoon, and it was a great wrap up to my final day in wonderous Taipei.

Yep! this Signage – bane of every beer guzzler

My bus trip home was slightly blurred from the booze I had, and I even stopped by Driftwood in XMD for a quick stout before heading back to the hotel (because you can walk back after the transports have stopped for the night)

I couldn’t resist (in my inebriated state) taking a glimpse of the “library” cafe behind Driftwood pub

It was a glorious, chilly night which ended with my usual street food fare. Then it was back to the hotel for some TV, smartphone surfing then sleep.
