It was a whim, an excuse to splurge fueled by curiosity and impulse. My company held a dinner and dance at this location. And as locals will know, it was a bitch making your way home from this end of Sentosa island if you were not driving. Thronging with the late-night public commuting crowds after a nice beach-side celebration did not look appealing as well.
The answer? Let’s splurge on a luxurious room in the same hotel and find out what’s what with this staycay business.
I found it to be rather exhilarating, as I observed my colleagues milling around like ants from your top floor king-bedroom. (yeah sorry, shallow cheap thrill..)
The hotel was truly 5-star and there was zero complaints of the entire stay experience. The room was great, the free breakfasts were fantastic and it was truly a relaxing, albeit luxurious stay.
The view from the room was the best thing of the stay, as from the high floor, one could see cross the southern seas and the view was unforgettable.
I had not explored Sentosa for decades. So the next day, I took the opportunity to visit the SEA aquarium, and check out the outside of Universal Studios.
There was a “Beer Fest” as well (yes, no surprise that this event factored into my decision to staycay here) and it was crowded with young locals and tourists. The food was not cheap, but I partook in some beer (Brewerks) and took in some vibes before walking back to my hotel.
